An experiment in Sydney, Australia, has shown that you are ten time more likely to get chatting to people in bars if you have an electronic cigarette.

A recent experiment carried out by the independent electronic cigarette review website, http://www.ElectronicCigaretteAdvisor.com/ has revealed that ‘smoking’ an e-cigarette can make it easier to get talking to members of the opposite sex when out in pubs, clubs and bars.

The experiment was conducted in Sydney, Australia by Peter Johnson, the founder of Electronic Cigarette Advisor, who admitted that the investigation was undertaken, “solely for entertainment purposes” as opposed to a proper scientific study, but added that he hoped his research would encourage current smokers to find out more about smoke-free e cigarettes.

Johnson conducted the test alongside seven colleagues, who, in the name of science and research, were each dispatched to five different bars around Sydney. In each bar they visited they did a ‘control test’ of simple sitting in the bar with no electronic cigarette and then returned a short time later in the same position and ‘smoked’ an e cigarette.

The results of Johnson’s experiment were rather astonishing; the seven colleagues helping with the test were only approached twice out of a possible 35 scenarios (seven people each going to five bars) when without the e cigarette, however, when the seven people returned to each bar with the e cigarette they were spoken to an amazing 20 times out of 35.

“With those stats I suppose you could argue that ‘smoking’ an electronic cigarette in a bar makes it ten times more likely that someone will come over and start a chat with you – they are quite an icebreaker!” laughed Johnson. “I actually don’t find the results in the least bit surprising” continued Johnson “People are always fascinated when I ‘smoke’ an electronic cigarette indoors at a pub or bar… Firstly there’s a look of disbelief, one that says, ‘I can’t believe he’s smoking inside and then it changes to curiosity and finally the questions come! I have to say I always get a very positive and encouraging feedback from people I talk to…”

Johnson hopes that the research will help increase smokers awareness of e cigarettes, the product that, he believes, could help hundreds of thousands of ‘traditional’ cigarette smokers around the world kick the habit for good.

Johnson was once a smoker himself and only finally managed to kick his 25-year habit after trying e-cigarettes; “The reason I set up my website Electronic Cigarette Advisor was to help people who smoke and want to find a way to stop… We review top brands of e cigarettes in the hope that people will be able to make the right decision in picking the e cigarette that is right for them”.
